On the one-year anniversary of the decision that overturned the abortion protections in Roe v. Wade, Congressman Allred spoke on his support for women's reproductive healthcare. AUSTIN - On the second anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, Congressman Colin Allred held an event to further commit his support for women’s access to reproductive care.
Congressman Colin Allred hosted the press event on Sunday afternoon alongside his wife Alexandra Eber, and other Texas elected officials, patients, and providers, outside of the Austin Women’s Health Center. Allred reaffirmed his commitment to restoring women’s reproductive healthcare in the state, as Texas implemented a near-total abortion ban as soon as the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health overturned the protections for abortion established in the US Supreme Court’s decision in Roe V. Wade.
The congressman was joined by former State Senator Wendy Davis, former plaintiff in Zurawski v. Texas Taylor Edwards, and Candidate for State Senate Kristian Carranza. After the ruling in Roe v. Wade fell, the State of Texas passed a law that banned abortion within the statute unless a physician in their “reasonable medical judgment” believes it is necessary to save the life and protect the health of the pregnant patient.
