If the centre is closed, people instead have to travel to Nottingham, Lincoln, Grantham or Mansfield for treatment

Residents from in and around Newark gathered in the town centre to demand the return of 24-hour services at the Urgent Care Treatment Centre. People are calling on the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to bring back the service for the UTC in Newark, after services were reduced to 9am-10pm back in March 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

The walk was organised by the Independents for Newark & District party after fears that the population of Newark has grown to the point where more services are needed. This comes after more than a thousand residents signed a petition in February 2024 demanding that the 24-hour service be reinstated. Councillor Debbie Darby stated: "Thank you to each and every one of you for coming here today to join us on this walk to Newark Hospital. We are so desperate to get our 24-hour services back in Newark.
