Job vacancies across radiology, pathology, nursing and midwifery questioned extensively by Labor and the Greens in response to the Tasmanian government's 'vacancy control' measures, leaked last week in an internal Health Department memo.

Labor and the Greens have continued their attack on the Tasmanian government over "vacancy control" measures in the Health Department, fearing frontline worker positions would be left vacant.

This assessment would be carried out by a newly formed vacancy control committee, in an effort to address the department's "deteriorated" financial position. He also asked the government if it would exempt nursing and midwifery from the vacancy control committee. "Has the hospitals and primary care division also been forced to establish a vacancy control committee?"Health Minister Guy Barnett did not directly answer, but said the government was committing to increase the primary care workforce.
