THE National Privacy Commission (NPC) on Tuesday said it had received notification of a data breach from Maxicare Healthcare Corp.

THE National Privacy Commission on Tuesday said it had received notification of a data breach from Maxicare Healthcare Corp.Maxicare was said to have notified its members regarding a potential data breach — first detected on June 13 — that could compromise personal data and medical information.The company said that unauthorized persons may have gained access to personal information submitted to Lab@Home, a third-party provider that can be used by Maxicare members to get laboratory requests.

It also encouraged data subjects who believe they may be part of any breach to contact the data protection officers of the companies involved and report the same to the NPC.Earlier this month, the NPC said that real estate firm Robinsons Land and Toyota Motor Philippines had also notified them of data breaches.Last month, the Philippine National Police also reported six data breach notifications.
