Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden made a triumphant return to the dance floor for the first time since her breast cancer diagnosis. The emotional performance left Amy in tears and physically strained, causing her to feel unwell momentarily.
The event, held at the Warner Hotel at Cricket St Thomas, Somerset, also featured performances from Strictly pros Katya, Neil, Karen, Nancy, and Carlos. However, it was Amy's courageous return to the dancefloor, filmed as part of a BBC documentary about her cancer journey, that was chosen as the grand finale.
The dance floor witnessed Amy's triumphant return on Sunday night with a vibrant cha cha. However, during a Samba routine, a challenging lift took its toll, causing Amy to feel unwell and step off the stage. She graced the stage once more, earning two standing ovations from the crowd. A member of the audience shared: "It was inspirational to see Amy return to the dancefloor and perform such powerful and emotional dances. Even when she fell ill Amy remained professional to the point where no-one would have been aware what was going on if she hadn't been - as she has through her journey - so open and honest.
