Kate Middleton might still make an appearance at the King's official birthday celebrations on Saturday, 15 June. Despite undergoing preventative cancer treatment, the 42 year old royal is reportedly considering showing up on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the Trooping the Colour ceremony if she feels up to it.
As the colonel-in-chief of the Irish Guards, Kate, 42, would typically salute at The Colonel's Review, the second of three ticketed Trooping the Colour events. In a change to his usual routine, the monarch won't be riding horseback to inspect the troops but will instead travel in an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla. This alteration to the norm aligns with palace guidance that the King's return to work will be "carefully reviewed" for each engagement, reports the Mirror.
Every year, Trooping the Colour is held as an official birthday celebration for the monarch, even though Charles' actual birthday falls on 14 November. According to royal insiders, other members of the Royal Family are expected to attend, just like last year when only working family members were present.
