Greens MP Cate Faehrmann has proposed cocaine should be regulated in the same way as alcohol for the sake of public health and to save taxpayers' the cost of funding zero-tolerance drug enforcement operations.

Picture: Seven “We’ve waged the war against drugs now across the world for 50 years. More people are taking drugs than ever before and more drugs are being produced so I'm saying it's time for another approach. We should have all options on the table.”In order to reduce the risk of overdose death and to discover a new source of taxation revenue for the government, Ms Faehrmann suggested “we start thinking” about regulating illegal drugs like cocaine in the same way as alcohol.
