The monarch has a lightened work schedule while he receives cancer treatment.

At an event Saturday for the Queen’s Reading Room Festival at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey, Queen Camilla playfully commented to Jack Reacher author Lee Child that amid King Charles III's ongoing cancer treatment, Charles is “doing fine” but “won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told,” Sky News reported. “Sounds to me like a typical husband,” Child retorted.

Late last week, he delivered his first public speech at an engagement since sharing his diagnosis, honoring the “courage” and “resilience” of veterans at a memorial marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The address left a pink-clad Camilla visibly teary. Son Prince William stood in for him at other events over the weekend. It was also Charles’ first overseas travel since sharing his diagnosis.
