Sharps disposal containers can be used to dispose of medical supplies including used syringes, pen device needles, used finger prick devices, used forceps, scalpel blades, giving sets, pipettes or pipette tips, and used insulin pumps.

NHS Lanarkshire is rolling out a new campaign to offer any resident who has been prescribed medication that involves using a needle or sharp, a sharps disposal container.

The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.Staff will be on hand at University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride from Monday to Wednesday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Diane Hunter, Acting Head of Technical Services, Property and Support Services Division, NHS Lanarkshire, said: “We are now making it easier for anyone who has been prescribed medication that involves using a needle or sharp to receive a bin to ensure that used sharps and needles are disposed of safely.
