Transgender people often face hurdles in getting health care, but a local organization works to remove those barriers. 'A lot of the time it's just about that basic care – making sure that transgender people's names and pronouns are affirmed,' Nelson said.'Offering an opening and accepting space in places like health care clinics and schools and in families can reduce suicide attempts by up to 50%,' McCracken said.Suicide is a health concern within the transgender community.It's what inspired Nelson to create Trans Minors Rights six years ago.
