In the last 5 years, we’ve seen an increase in the rates of fatal crashes for youth aged 0 to 18 during the 100 deadliest days compared to the rest of the year . Research shows that 94% of all crashes are caused by human error. The top contributing factors are: distracted driving, driving faster than the posted speed limit , aggressive driving, driving while tired, and not buckling your seatbelt.
Protect yourself, your friends, and your family during the summer by driving alert – never drive distracted, obey the posted speed limit, don’t drive aggressively, and buckle up. Teach your teen drivers about the importance of driving alert to protect themselves and others. It’s also important to be alert if you or your family is walking or biking. Always wear a helmet while biking and wear reflective gear so you’re easier to see.
