Up to 1,000 dead babies and children up to the age of 15 were sent to medical schools by nuns and religious institutions up to the 1970s.
“Children used as anatomical subjects in the Dublin Medical Schools were aged between 10 minutes and 15 years at the time of death”. The scandal first emerged in 2014 when dead babies were discovered in a septic tank at a Mother and Babies Home in Tuam.
