When Parkinson's disease began to take over William Rennie's body, he chose medical assistance in dying , meaning his beloved 16-year-old cats needed a second home.Newsweek spoke to his daughter Erin, 53, about her 77-year-old dad's decision to 'die with dignity' and what it meant for his pets Shiloh and Belle.'My dad used to tell me that the cats would outlive him and I never believed it, but it was true,' she said.
'On June 28 last year, Rennie passed away in his home with his daughter and her husband by his side.Erin told Newsweek: 'My dad had the injections in his home in his favorite chair and he had stepped over Shiloh as he walked to take his seat and said goodbye to her while she slept on the floor.'The procedure was over within two minutes and very peaceful.
