Texas Parks And Wildlife Department News

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said RW Trophy Ranch was losing 2% of its deer herd each week to chronic wasting disease.

Nearly 250 “Zombie deer” were killed after a years-long battle with a Texas rancher over the eradication of his infested animals. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department told USA Today its agents used rifles and pistols to eradicate the animals infected with chronic wasting disease, a contagious and fatal degenerate deer-specific infection, on the 1,500-acre RW Trophy Ranch in Terrell. The depopulation occurred last Thursday at the ranch 33 miles east of Dallas.

Texans won big in lottery games. These stores sold the tickets. Robert Williams, owner of the RW Trophy Ranch, sued the state in 2022 after a kill order was placed for deer on his ranch.
