The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has impeached its Chairman, Dr Emem Abraham and the Vice, Dr Aniekan Utuk, over alleged 'gross misconduct'. Dr Usenobong Morgan Akpan, the association's Secretary, was appointed as Acting Chairman until the tenure of the present administration ends on 16th July, 2024.
Akpan argued that his appointment as the Acting Chairman was in accordance with the association's Constitution, given that until his elevation, he was the highest office holder and most qualified to run the affairs of the NMA. He said the press conference was to notify the public of the new administration of the NMA in Akwa Ibom State. 'We are here to notify the public of the change in leadership of the NMA.
