Culture writers Jen Sookfong Lee and Sarah-Tai Black discuss how the long-running show continues to push the envelope – but perhaps not far enough.A still from Comedy Central's "South Park: Hot Love Month," featuring Stan And Kyle From The Episode "Clubhouses." first premiered in 1997. While it's been a mainstay of the adult animation genre for decades, it's been a long time since it crossed over into the mainstream pop culture conversation.

As a fat kid in the '90s Cartman was also, unfortunately, very influential in how a lot of us fat kids were viewed, I would say — reinforcing a lot of stereotypes of fat people in terms of supposed moral failings. This is funny. I will say, classic: It's very interesting because it's almost a sincere approach to witnessing the experience of what it means to try to access these drugs.

It's very much him having this epiphany that, newsflash, you can be an asshole at any size, while at the same time throwing in these gags about the superficial nature of chasing down the idealized form, while also having this trenchant bit of commentary on the state of health care. I'm a mom who lives in an urban neighborhood, and there are some sexy moms who look a certain way. I am not one of these women, but I see them at the gym terrorizing other people, and that seems like it's real. But then the one thing is, I wishcould have done a little nod as like, why do these women feel like they have to be this way? Why do they feel like they have to take Ozempic? I'm not saying it has to be serious. It could also be a joke.
