As researchers around the world look into the antibacterial properties of crocodile blood, one expert is calling on the Northern Territory to reach for a foothold in an emerging medical industry.

Dr Webb, who chairs the IUCN's crocodile research group of 624 members in 64 countries, claimed he had seen evidence of crocodile compounds used to treat flesh-eating bacteria in the Philippines and believed it was also being investigated by the military for wound-healing purposes. But despite the gains being made by overseas companies, Dr Webb said he was not aware of any companies looking into crocodile-based medicine in Australia — providing a potential opening for the Territory.

However he said that would require research funding, which had been hard to come by in recent decades."But then the political machinery sort of decided 'Oh no, no more research'. The NT Government said it could find no evidence of it cutting funding to crocodile research programs in recent decades.

CCTV cameras to be used in aged care facilities in Australian-first trialAt least five SA Health aged care facilities will have CCTV cameras installed later this year in an Australian-first trial of new safeguards for people in care. NOT before time!! Cameras will find these places are totally under staffed........you will find frustration from staff with dementia patients but the problem is all about staffing levels and has been for decades.......broken bones from their medicare records would clearly show this. They should be in every room and the perpetrators of these violent acts should be imprisoned along with the owners of these places. We'll all be old someday. If this was my parent, that carer couldn't run fast or far enough. Disgraceful.
