KUALA LUMPUR: Two cops on motorcycle were forced to open fire on a vehicle after the driver tried to ram into them during a crime prevention patrol at Taman Melawati here.

Deputy Ampang Jaya OCPD Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident occured at around 6.15pm on Thursday .

"The two policemen were on patrol around the Taman Melawati area when they attempted to stop a Honda CRV driven by a male suspect. "The suspect attempted to flee the scene and reversed into the two motorcycles and tried to ram the policemen," he said, adding that they were forced to open fire on the vehicle's tyres to stop it."We arrested two suspects in the vehicle and checked the vehicle, and found a machete, a modified allen key, four spanners, several screw drivers and cutters, as well as a mask and gloves.

"The suspects are aged 25 and 38, and further investigations revealed the Honda to have been reported stolen near Kepong. "Follow-up investigations also led to the seizure of a Toyota Vellfire reported stolen in Selayang," he said, adding that one of the suspects had eight prior records and was wanted by the police.Tags / Keywords:
