The number of measles cases in Scotland has increased in 2024 as Public Health Scotland is committed to monitoring the rise across the nation.

Scotland's number of measles cases this year has reached 11 whilst a recent outbreak in London has risen to 74 total cases.

While there is yet to be an alert from any public health body on the current rise of cases, Community Pharmacy Scotland has released a symptoms list and how-to guide for those who have never encountered the highly contagious disease before. What is measles? Measles is a viral infection that is extremely contagious and can be spread among people very easily. NHS Inform confirmed that anyone can catch this disease if they haven't had it before or haven't yet been vaccinated against it.
