In comparison with 2011, the total number of male smokers dropped by 8.2 per cent but the number of female smokers increased by 0.5 per cent.The report also found that two out of five smokers were not interested in breaking the habit despite the habit costing them an average of RM177.70 a month. In the report, the government said that it aims to only have 15 per cent of smokers in the population by 2025.It admitted, however, that the target may be difficult to achieve with the emerging addiction towards electronic cigarettes, also known as vape, as 8.6 per cent of youth between 15 and 24 used electronic cigarettes.
