An estimated 30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions, including depression.

“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association and our 7,000 members, we applaud the House passage of HB 1632. This legislation, sponsored by Representative Jennifer O’Mara, establishes a standard for First Responders to be entitled to worker’s compensation benefits due to Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries .

PPFFA understands firsthand the mental and emotional toll of this line of duty. An estimated 30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions, including depression and PTSI. Sadly, more first responders die from suicide than in the line of duty. PPFFA looks forward to working with the Pennsylvania Senate and Gov. Josh Shapiro on the final passage of this crucial legislation.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
