New effective medications specifically designed for migraine have changed the outlook for many patients of this often misunderstood neurological disorder, experts say.Some chronic migraine patients are finding relief in new medications that target a brain chemical involved in migraine pain. The stereotypical image of a migraine sufferer is someone lying in a dark, quiet room for hours with an ice pack on their head.

Emgality is one of four migraine medications known as anti-CGRP antibodies approved in Canada within the last five years. These are generally administered by injection by patients themselves once a month and are meant to reduce the intensity and frequency of debilitating migraines.
