San Francisco’s nurses are currently in contract negotiations with the Department of Public Health, which they allege is bargaining in bad faith

San Francisco public-health nurses will soon vote on whether to strike ahead of the expiration of their contract with The City, which is currently set for the end of June.

Bollinger and dozens of nurses gathered outside the hospital Thursday, charging the Department of Public Health with ongoing mismanagement of the facility and bad-faith bargaining in the current negotiations. The Department of Public Health told The Examiner that significant progress has been made in hiring and retaining permanent registered nurses as the pandemic recovery continues. A spokesperson said the department has hired 166 new nurses since December and is planning on hiring 50 more by June 30.
