New York City has declared a health emergency after one of the worst measles outbreaks in decades.

There have been 285 confirmed cases since the outbreak began, with the majority concentrated in the Orthodox Jewish Community.

Those living in Williamsburg and Brooklyn are being told to receive the measles vaccine in an effort to stop the spread of the disease. The mayor says the city may issue violations and possibly fines of about 1,400 dollars for those who do not comply.
