The volunteer-based Music Program at the Southeast Health Medical Center works to ease people's nerves one note at a time. People can hear songs from a guitarist, pianist, harpist and, saxophonist throughout the week.

It’s not uncommon to get anxious before going to the doctor. However, Southeast Health Medical Center is easing that stress through the sound of music.

Several times a week, people are greeted with music when walking into the hospital. It’s provided by gifted volunteers who give back to the Wiregrass with their tunes and grace.Talented volunteers, like Meyerson, donate their time to the hospital to be there for patients. “They are going through maybe one of the hardest times of their lives so the opportunity to come in here and be a light and brighten the patient’s day is everything and I am just grateful I am able to do this,” Meyerson said.“My fingers expressed my feelings,” Lawanda Lawler, a volunteer, said.“I think it’s a ministry that I have,” Lawler said.

The notes move the patients, visitors, and staff. People who walk through the hospital confide in these volunteers.
