The Durham Region Health Department is in the process of recruiting members for the Durham Youth Health Group. The candidates have to be between 12 and 18-ye

The Durham Region Health Department is in the process of recruiting members for the Durham Youth Health Group.The group gives young people a chance to give their input on youth services and programs. They will also gain skills and knowledge about various health topics.

Public health nurses with the region will help them identify their health priorities and develop strategies to reach their peers. “The focus of the group is to engage youth across Durham Region to work toward positive health outcomes for themselves, as well as their peers,” said Emilie Ladouceur, a public health nurse with the Health Department. “Benefits of joining the Durham Youth Health Group include, receiving community service hours, working on projects to develop health-related youth-targeted social media messages, gaining new experiences, connecting with other youth, and access to free training opportunities.

Applications are being accepted until May 31.
