The New York City Department of Health said yeshivas in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that do not comply will face violations and possible closure.

By Lindsey Bever Lindsey Bever General assignment reporter covering national and breaking news Email Bio Follow April 9 at 8:12 AM Orthodox Jewish schools in New York have been ordered to ban unvaccinated students, as measles cases in the city continue to climb “at an alarming rate” within the Orthodox community, health officials said.

"This outbreak is being fueled by a small group of anti-vaxxers in these neighborhoods. They have been spreading dangerous misinformation based on fake science,” Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot, a pediatrician, said in the statement. “We stand with the majority of people in this community who have worked hard to protect their children and those at risk.

In 2000, officials announced that they had eradicated measles in the United States. Yet since then, there have been years when the number of cases has surged, notably in 2014, when 667 were reported — the highest annual total since the turn of the century. That year, the disease was reported at a rate of 1.83 cases per day. In 2019, however, the rate has increased to 4.84 cases a day. If that pace continues, this year could surpass 2014 by June.

Very good! I hope they don't say This is anti-semitic?!

i support this....

Good

What about the principle that my body is my business. Kids are absolutely healthy I assume.

They don't like .They can go to Jerusalem.

Contagious diseases don’t give a shit what religion you are and neither should modern medicine or public policy.

Just a random anti Semitic post unrelated to actual religion and facts. Oh, the left!

Fine. They can Orthodox Jewish home school them. There was no chicken pox vaccine when many teachers were growing up. They will get the sickest if they contract them in adulthood.

If kids are vaccinated at the school, what does keeping healthy, unvaccinated kids away matter? Unless the vaccines are ineffective...

Oohhh.. Anti-Semitism

Good. Child abuse is still child abuse even if its religious.

It should simply be law. Vaccination by law. Religious beliefs do not superceed public health concerns. It doesnt matter what religion is involved.

👏👏👏👏👏👏

ANTI-SEMITIC, RACIST

Good.

Is this not violation of religious freedom?

Finally.

Good. Vaccinate your kids, guys

Good

Diseases coming across our borders and into sanctuary cities. And somehow it's the fault of Anti-vaxxers. 🤔

There's nothing in Jewish law which makes vaccines a problem. These are lazy/ignorant parents who are simply choosing not to vaccinate. It's not a religious issue.

Somehow, I think it has more to do with public safety and disease control than religion... but sure, let's emphasize the religion part because that's what makes people angry and riot.

They must know what's really happening with these government-enforced vaccines, no?
