Major shortfalls in both Liberal and Labor's healthcare plans: Phelps | Sky News Australia

Independent MP Kerryn Phelps claims there are major shortfalls in both the Coalition and Labor Party's healthcare plans. Ms Phelps says both major parties failed to address general practice in their health announcements despite significant pledges towards cancer care, which she says is concerning given how much cancer care is co-ordinated through GPs.

The member for Wentworth says the Labor Party’s cancer treatment policies don’t clarify whether universal bulk billing for cancer services has been fully negotiated with oncologists or radiologists providing scans. Meanwhile, Ms Phelp’s says the government’s mental health policies fail to address ‘some of the more difficult issues’ like chronic complex mental health care, and drug and alcohol services.
