Fredi had lived at SeaWorld Orlando in Florida since 2011 when she was being rescued from a mass stranding

Fredi, a pilot whale, suffered from persistent health problems for years.

"Despite that full effort, her health and quality of life declined recently and she was no longer responding to treatment."The theme park, which attracts four million visitors each year, does not believe the infection to be contagious but continues to monitor the other whales on-site.The Marine Mammal Conservancy and other agencies decided the best place for Fredi and her friends was SeaWorld Orlando.

Kayla was born in captivity at SeaWorld San Antonio in 1988, before being moved to SeaWorld Ohio in 1991 and then later Orlando in 2006 - where she spent the rest of her life performing for visitors.
