Alison McLaughlin will sound the horn at the start line to send participants on their way at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life on Sunday.Money raised enables scientists to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer – helping to save more lives.
“I had to put my big girl pants on and deal with whatever was coming my way. Of course that felt frightening and at first I did ask, ‘why me?’ People would say to me they were sorry I had cancer but I’d always tell them, ‘don’t be sorry, cancer has picked the wrong person here’. But it was a shock when she was told she would need another operation as they hadn’t got a clear enough margin around the cancer.
“I’m feeling great now, making plans for a holiday and a family wedding later this year. I’m here to tell the tale.
