The HSE has said that it will not be able to hire any more public dentists due to the current recruitment embargo.
Mr Cullinane asked Health Minister Stephen Donnelly what his plans were to increase the number of dentists contracted to the public dental service.In response, the HSE said that the recruitment freeze was impacting its ability to hire new dentists.“The recruitment embargo is still in place at this point, and relates to the number of staff employed by the HSE,” the response from the HSE said.
Mr Cullinane told the Irish Mirror that news that the recruitment ban is now affecting dental services will result in difficulties for children and their parents. “We know we have a major problem with the dental service treatment scheme where only one-third of dentists who were previously signed up are signed up .
