BBC's Countryfile presenter Adam Henson has been a mainstay on our televisions on Sunday evening for over 20years. Having Joined the hit show in 2001, Mr Henson's extensive knowledge of the farming industry makes him one of the most popular presenters on BBC's hit programme.
Henson opened up with a heart-wrenching account of his emotional journey following his wife's cancer diagnosis. His partner, Charlie Gilbert, discovered in 2021 that tests had revealed a significant tumour on her pancreas.
Titled 'Adam Henson's Keeping on track', the podcast launched last year with the aim of getting more people in the farming sector talking. Having lost a close friend who died by suicide and learning about the troubling statistics around mental health issues in the farming community, Adam was compelled to work with a professional production team to create a series of podcasts to hopefully help alleviate some of the problems faced and provide resources to the community.
"As anyone working in farming knows, every day brings potential joy and disaster – you never quite know what is going to happen and there are many things you can’t control. This is one of the reasons for the high suicide rate within the farming sector.”
