Nutritionists have shared two top eating tips to help people lead a long life - and they are to add two cheap and readily available foods to your diet

Nutrition gurus have stated that two economical superfoods can combat cholesterol, diabetes, cancer and obesity. Apples along with whole grains are being championed as dietary staples that can lead us to live a longer life.

A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine revealed that apple-eaters made less doctor appointments compared to those who don't consume apples regularly. There's indeed some truth to the old saying - an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Registered nutritionist Rob Hobson, author of 'Unprocess Your Life' states, "Pectin, also found in pears and plums, has been shown in studies, including a review in the journal Clinical Nutrition, to improve blood cholesterol levels. That will help to reduce the risk of heart disease.", reports Gloucestershire Live.
