Man yells 'I can't breathe' moments before he dies in police custody, body cam video shows A man died in police custody at a Texas hospital in 2022 after yelling "I can't breathe" and screaming for a drink of water, newly released body camera footage appears to show.

He added that Knotts should have been placed in the recovery position -- or on his side -- which he said would not have impacted Knotts' ability to breathe. Around 11 a.m., officers with the Medical Center "responded to some kind of disturbance" and Knotts ran from the facility, according to the complaint. Documents shows he was then taken back to the hospital, where he later died.

"He's fully restrained," Henley said, adding that Knotts complains he's thirsty, but no one gets him a drink. Henley said Knotts' chest was being pressed against the bed and his stomach was lodged in the corner of the bed, preventing him from breathing.
