President Biden called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach in Gaza a “mistake” and reiterated the U.S. call for a cease-fire for at least six weeks to allow for the delivery of food and medicine to Palestinians. “I think what he’s doing is a mistake. I don’t agree with his approach,” Biden said in a Univision interview that was taped last week and aired Tuesday night.
But the increasingly tough rhetoric has not resulted in any significant policy shift to the administration’s unwavering support of Israel. On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces said that 468 aid trucks were “inspected and transferred to Gaza,” describing it as the highest number to enter the enclave since the start of the war. But aid groups emphasized that the entry of more trucks on its own does not resolve the crisis.
