Environment bosses say risk to human health 'cannot be completely excluded' for residents forced to live with pungent smell plaguing a community in Fleetwood

"We will make an assessment of Jameson Road landfill site following receipt of Environment Agency monitoring data. We know from similar landfill issues that short-term health effects may be experienced such as irritation to the eyes, nose and throat. The landfill site on Jameson Road is owned by Transwaste, a waste management company based in Hull. They took over the site from Suez in 2023 have been working in conjunction with the relevant authorities to manage the landfill and ultimately, control the smell.

"Our officers are also actively conducting odour assessments within the affected areas. Our focus is on improving the situation for local residents and the environment."
