The challenge that wellness platforms set out to overcome is one that will hit home with anyone who’s ever hit the snooze button and dozed through an exercise session, or 20: How can we get people to take care of themselves and to stick with the process long term?

The platform stores the user’s preferences and displays upcoming classes she might like. It also tracks fitness participation, giving the user the benefit of benchmarks — as the saying goes, what gets measured tends to improve. And it feeds data into the employer’s own Peerfit dashboard on a monthly basis, allowing companies to track engagement.

Peer support incentivizes trying out new activities. We just made it super easy for their peers to invite them.

It’s a vision that comes naturally to Buckley, who was raised in a military family who moved among various small-town locations throughout the country. Other fitness platforms “all went big city,” as he put it.
