The Alabama Senate is now considering a new bill that supporters say could fast-track the long-delayed process of getting medical marijuana into the hands of patients, but opponents warn is short-circuiting the existing law.

The Alabama Senate is considering a bill that aims to expedite the process of providing medical marijuana to patients. The bill would triple the number of licenses the state cannabis commission can award and require the commission to grant licenses to approved companies.

This means that nine out of the fifteen licenses would already be allocated. Additionally, the bill would increase the number of licenses for processors and dispensaries.
