The report analyzed 58 causes of death that are linked to alcohol use and found between 2020 and 2021 there were 178,307 alcohol-related deaths. The report also found 29% of those deaths were fully attributable to alcohol and 71% were partially attributable to alcohol. shows in 2020, alcohol sales increased by 2.9% which was the biggest yearly increase in more than 50 years.

Deaths by suicide have increased 36% between 2000 and 2021. Suicide is one of the top ten leading causes of death for people between the ages of ten and 64, and theSuicide has a widespread impact beyond death. In 2021, more than 12 million adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.5 million adults made a plan for it and nearly two million attempted suicide, according to the CDC.
