King Charles III waved to the crowd as he arrived for the annual Easter Sunday service. The monarch is attending the annual Easter Mattins Service at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, alongside Queen Camilla.
It's the King's first major public appearance since his cancer diagnosis. However, there is a smaller royal gathering at the service this year than normal. The Prince and Princess of Wales, and their three children, are not attending. It follows Princess Catherine's own cancer diagnosis, which she revealed in a public video earlier this month.Charles arrived by car at St George’s Chapel, alongside the Queen, shortly after 10.40am today . The Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, all arrived at the chapel a few moments earlier.
The King, wearing a dark coat and blue tie, smiled and waved at members of the public outside St George’s Chapel. One person shouted 'happy Easter', to which Charles gestured with his arm and responded: “And to you.” Charles' treatment for cancer was announced at the start of February. He has since been carrying out low-key official duties behind palace walls.
