Women are under-represented in the most lucrative areas of medicine but over-represented in lower-paid specialities.

Male GPs earn a third more than their female counterparts, a review of pay inequality in the NHS has found.

The discrepancy in income for family doctors has been identified as the most extreme example of gender pay inequality among medics. The review, led by Dame Jane Dacre, former president of the Royal College of Physicians, found that male doctors in the NHS earn 17% more than their female colleagues overall.Two-thirds of consultants, the most senior and well-paid doctors, are men - a fact Dame Jane identified as one of the primary drivers of pay inequality. The dominance of men in senior positions comes despite women accounting for two-thirds of doctors in training grades.

The review also found that women are over-represented in lower-paid specialities such as public health and occupational health, but under-represented in the highest paying specialities such as urology and surgery.

Look at earnings per hour...this is a non story

Over 93% of death in workplace? Suffered by men. Over 97% death in conflict? Suffered by men. Parental custody? Men lose out. Domestic violence shelters? Men don't have any.. Suicides? 70% are men. Womem REALLY have it easier compared to men.

Because they do more hours? Pay by gender HAS BEEN ILLEGAL for sometime in UK.. but women work less hours by CHOICE so...? THEY WILL EARN LESS for being lazy compared to men.

This is probably the same across most professions but is it gender inequality. It’s more to do with more men in higher grade positions

Finally acknowledging an earnings gap and not a wage gap I see 🙃

thats because most the women do part time

Really? Is this still going on? It’s archaic. Females revolt - it’s simply unfair.

And the GPs get bonuses for putting old age pensioners on the Liverpool Care Death Pathway by signing their death warrants behind famillies backs! All this is still being done in secret under the guise of palliative/social home care/hospice!

Can you publish how much female models make compared to their male counterparts? Cheers.

If person A (Female) is doing the exact job, hours etc as person B (Male) and there is a discrepancy then that would be the best way to determine a ‘gap’ - Anything else cannot be considered surely

Because women's pay is still seen as supplementary to men's , being the main breadwinner . The usual heteronormativity goings on

Because they're better at their job?

I prefer seeing female, GPs, the dudes are not as good they should earn less.

Because Male GPs are disproportionately more experienced and therefore are entitled to higher pay. Factors such as maternity leave also decrease the average pay of woman as a whole too.

I do hate it when you get a statement of a fact as a headline and leave it for people to imply from it that there’s something unfair going on when in all probability there’s a perfectly rational reason that this is happening.

Why?

The gender pay gap conspiracy continues.

Where are the fucking women that they dont fight this but+++ fight minorities like me asking to end slavery in usa++++
