Private slimming clinics in England are giving patients unlicensed and ineffective weight loss drugs and aren’t warning them of side effects, health inspectors say.
The Care Quality Commission said patients at several clinics were given medicines which aren’t backed up by scientific evidence or recommended by health officials. On another occasion, a slimming clinic gave a patient medicine without informing their GP, despite the fact they had a complex long-term medical condition.
