Rhod Gilbert, the acclaimed comedian, is gearing up to exhibit his baking prowess on episode 2 of Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer alongside a star-studded lineup.
Rhod's comedic talents have since taken him on sell-out tours, graced the stages of the Royal Variety Performance, and made him a familiar face on panel shows like Have I Got News For You? and Would I Lie To You? However, beyond the glitz and glamour, Rhod has bravely shared his personal struggles with male infertility and social anxiety.
Rhod has also been open about his battles with social anxiety, recounting the profound impact it had on his youth. In the BBC documentary Stand Up to Shyness, the 53 year old said: "I used to get this knot in the pit of my stomach... there was nothing wrong with me medically, it was anxiety.” And in 2021, while hosting DIY SOS for the first time, Rhod was overcome with emotion as he watched the children of St Michael's Youth Project in Hull enjoy their new adventure park created as part of the DIY SOS: The Big Build Children in Need Special.
