The Princess of Wales 'reached out beyond her pain' and her video statement yesterday 'humbled a lot of people', a royal historian has told Sky News this morning.Dr Tessa Dunlop said with Kate 'you have vulnerability' and 'you find this strength in the face of adversity which is inspiring'.

'Kate will have silenced people in the next few weeks. She has certainly humbled a lot of people but going forward we know that interest will rear up again.'Dr Dunlop said the royal had 'smashed it out of the park when she was having her darkest personal moment'.'That is why it was so powerful. If she was a gifted natural communicator and performer it wouldn't have been quite so extraordinary,' she added.
