The trainers say on top of helping with medical emergencies, they also do even more hands-on preparation work. "We have coolers available, we're loading things in at all times, making sure locker rooms get turned over for those teams, making sure they have water on the court, ice on the court, all of things but we're also just a phone call away if they're needing something in the middle of the night because something came up and they need to get to a pharmacy or something along those lines," said Stacie Feltz, an athletic trainer with Ascension St. Vincent.
In addition to helping athletes, staff with St. Vincent's Sports Performance says that they also provide help to referees, cheerleaders and mascots as needed. WTHR would like to send you push notifications about the latest news and weather.
