Several British royals have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer since the start of their family’s reign.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” a statement read at the time. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.” The statement concluded: “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”Princess VictoriaKing Edward VII
Biographer William Shawcross revealed in his 2009 book, The Queen Mother: The Official Biography, that Elizabeth had a tumor removed in 1966 following a colon cancer diagnosis. She was later diagnosed with breast cancer in 1984 and had surgery to remove a lump in her breast.Sarah Ferguson announced her breast cancer diagnosis in June 2023.
