Dzulkefly Ahmad says the project is at the pre-tender stage at the moment.

KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad today said the government is in the process of building a new hospital at Pasir Gudang, Johor, following the recent Sungai Kim Kim contamination incident.

“We are in the process of getting tenders. The prequalification announcement has been made and this will close on April 4.”Recently, Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar had called on the government to build a government hospital close to the area.“It is therefore fair and appropriate if more development allocations are channelled to the state, especially to upgrade health services, public transport and highway networks,” said Sultan Ibrahim.

On another development, Dzulkefly also announced that the Health Advisory Council would be led by former health director-general Abu Bakar Sulaiman and seven other people. He said the council would be focusing on how the government can improve its services and healthcare to serve the nation, in particular, the steps to be taken to reform the existing healthcare system.
