The agency said that in spite of th efforts, the country continued to face new cases and fatalities, underscoring the persistent threat posed by Lassa fever.‘‘Cumulatively, the report shows that from week one to nine, Nigeria recorded 682 confirmed cases and 128 deaths with a case fatality rate of 18.8 per cent, which is higher than the CFR for the same period in 2023 which was 16.1 per cent.’’
The situation report noted that 62 per cent of all the confirmed cases were reported from Ondo, Edo and Bauchi while 38 per cent were from 24 states with confirmed cases. Dr Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, said on Wednesday that the results of an autopsy conducted on deceased singer Ilerioluwa Aloba would be ready in the next three or four weeks.
