In a ruling issued this week, Ontario Superior Court Justice Paul Perell says the Correctional Service of Canada violated the charter rights of thousands of inmates who filed a class-action lawsuit against the agency over its use of administrative segregation.
The judge says the $20 million sum will go to "additional mental health or program resources" in the penal system as well as legal fees. The practice has faced legal challenges in Ontario and British Columbia, both of which found extended solitary confinement to be unconstitutional.
Yea!!!!!!!!’ C this leesheriff killingit
Use them as test dummy’s on the Max 8
Staff at prisons should not have to deal with mental health in such a high magnitude. Let's see here. Your working a desk and an inmate comes up with genitals cut off and hands them to you. What do you do? Keep him around other inmates when back from hospital? Ugh idiots
Canada , where crime pays ! Criminals , terrorists and illegals welcome !
What did their victims get?
where should we have put them?
Ridiculous
Lots of people are in prison when they should be getting help with their mental issues
Pay who? The inmates?
Pay them in canola oil. We’ll have a lot to spare.
