Yorkshire Live What's On Editor Craig Jones is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for charity in memory of his mum Pauline McCullagh

A son is holding a fundraising event in memory of his mum to support Cancer Research UK’s vital work.

Pauline McCullagh sadly died in June 2021, at the age of 55, around 18 months after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Pauline worked at Asda, in Harpurhey, Manchester, for 30 years and was well-known in the community. Craig has previously ran the Manchester Half Marathon and this is the third time he’s organised a fundraising event - the previous two have raised a combined £10,000 for charity.

Craig, 35, said: “Mum’s death hit very hard and it still does. Since, I’ve just tried to do little things to celebrate her and raise money for charitable causes which support those diagnosed with cancer. “Anyone who’d like to come along to our fundraiser is very welcome. I’m really proud of the events we’ve held and I’m hopeful our latest effort should be a lot of fun and something my mum would have been touched by. Hopefully, see you on Saturday, March 23.”
